SoCal CEERS Hosted at USC
The 2026 SoCal Civil and Environmental Research Symposium (SoCal CEERS) recently took place at USC’s Ginsburg Hall, bringing together students and researchers from across Southern California. This year’s event was uniquely held in collaboration with the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the Le Val Lund Student Symposium, creating a significant platform for knowledge exchange between academic institutions and industry leaders. The program featured oral and poster presentations on critical topics, including infrastructure resilience, water systems, and wildfire modeling, highlighting the high-level research driving advancements in the field.
The symposium seamlessly emphasizes the importance of regional collaboration and student leadership in bridging the gap between research and real-world application. This year, the ReWater Center was heavily represented across all facets of the event: two of our PhD students served on the organizing committee, our postdoctoral researchers helped judge the poster sessions, and several of our researchers showcased their work through both poster and oral presentations. As the event continues to grow, it serves as a vital pipeline for developing talented engineers prepared to tackle the complex civil and environmental challenges of Southern California.
“SoCal CEERS is truly a collective effort, and we are thankful for all of the CEE faculty members and the continued support of ASCE in bringing the civil and environmental community together,” said Burcin Becerik-Gerber, Fred Champion Chair in Civil and Environmental Engineering and Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
